Description

A slim book, it contains 280 epigrammatic poems and aphorisms, culled out from the innumerable varieties of creative writings of great poets, composed in classical Sanskrit literature from time to time in the good old days. The book presents an interpretative English translation of these ancient words of wisdom. An attempt has been made to include poems which deal with various aspects of social life, whose meaning is relevant to this day as they are based upon real-life experiences of visionary content creators. Many of them reflect harsh and difficult social realities and present day-to-day problems with a light-hearted touch, by liberally using metaphors spiced with humour and/or satire, pathos, irony, romance, and all the various threads of human emotions. Some of the intuitive and revealing expressions also drive the point home that there is nothing called the absolute truth in this relative material world. What is considered to be useful and the truth in a particular situation may not be so universally.
